Motion Capture in Live Performance

Seymour Irons with Aaron Best

PhD Candidate Aaron Best will offer participants a basic understanding of how motion capture works and how its capabilities are applicable to live performance. Participants will also receive a unique opportunity to experiment with motion capture using both the VICON system and the XSENS suit. 

In the second half, artist Seymour Irons will guide the participants through games that probe the capabilities of the technology.

Reflections and discussions will center around the questions, “how can motion capture and live performance co-exist?” and “what do I need to use motion capture technology at home?”
